This is a herbaceous perennial that can grow up to 24" tall and wide. The flower spikes can reach up to 3 feet in height at maturity. A fast grower that can live up to 3 years. Self seeding makes it ideal for naturalizing, woodland gardens, and should maintain for years. Cut back in late fall for winter preparation. Red to orange bell shaped flowers with yellow eyes and spurs at the end of the stem appear in late spring. Deer will usually leave them alone in favor of tastier treats.
